2 Hounds Design, headquartered in Indian Trail, N.C., has acquired Yellow Dog Design, based in Greensboro, N.C.

2 Hounds Design offers the acclaimed Freedom No-Pull Harness, collars and leashes. Celebrating two decades of excellence, 2 Hounds Design has carved a niche by collaborating with pet stores, veterinarians, dog trainers, and adoption and rescue organizations worldwide, officials said.

Yellow Dog Design, established in 2001 by Mike and Don Dempsey, has reshaped the pet fashion realm with its extensive portfolio of patterns and designs, officials said. With an artistic flair, Yellow Dog Design creates “production art on dog products,” capturing the essence of contemporary trends while remaining true to the joy of pet ownership, officials said.

The strategic merger of these two homegrown enterprises aligns seamlessly with their shared commitment to pet well-being and individualized expression, officials said.

“This is going to be fun,” said Alisha Navarro, president of 2 Hounds Design. “Mike and Don have built an incredible business that exudes positivity. I am thrilled to embark on this journey with them and our new united team.”

For now, both companies maintain their distinct identities and operational autonomy, ensuring business continuity for their valued customers and partners, officials said. Orders will continue to be processed efficiently, and the companies will provide regular updates as the integration progresses, officials added.

Aramar Capital Group initiated and acted as financial advisor for this transaction.

“We have known these two companies for years, during which time each has built a strong brand and an impressive product portfolio,” said David Levine, Managing Director at Aramar. “The combination from this transaction will result in an industry leader.”

As a testament to their commitment to North Carolina, the companies plan to consolidate their operations within the state, officials said. The intention is to move equipment starting early next year, with a long-term vision of fully transitioning manufacturing while ensuring support for employees unable to relocate, officials added.
